An antique Baluch pillow cover from Southeast Persia circa 1900 also called balisht the Persian word for pillow. These nomadic weavings would be stuffed with cotton and used to lounge on or to place your head on for sleep. This beautiful balisht is in near-mint condition with its original plain-weave back. The wool is lustrous and design is geometric and simple. Camel hair was used in the field which is an attractive feature of Baluch weavings. If you carefully examine the piece at least three different shades of blue, teal and green are used in this piece. The selvedges are made of goat hair, another signature of the Baluch tribe.
