A great example of Ganja rugs from the 1880s. The ancient city of Ganja is inhabited by both Armenians and Azeri Turks. Based on its vibrant color palette and the study of reputable sources we attribute this rug to Armenians, which makes this rug a Christian rug. Christian rugs are currently more sought after than any time in history. The rug has wool foundation, and a very supple handle – characteristic of most Caucasian rugs. Pile is medium and rug is in good condition, with few to no damages.
