Turn of the century Tekke Turkmen 'wedding rug' which is basically an area rug. The most important of the Turkman tribes of Central Asia in the nineteenth century was the Tekke. These types of weaving examples from the 1900s represent the final phase of Tekke weaving before the large-scale introduction of synthetic dyes in the early 20th century. We love the saturated madder red of the field, extremely supple handle, and the excellent condition of this rug. Laurel is definitely a classic for the rug aficionados.
This rug is in great condition with little wear. It has been professionally cleaned and the ends and sides have been preserved nicely.
