A nice example of Baluch area rug from the late 19th century with the so-called "mina khani" pattern. This pattern features stylized flower heads with smaller flowers in white arranged on an indigo blue field. The mina khani is popular among the collectors perhaps due to its association with court carpets of the 16th century. The border design is an elegant abstract style usually attributed to the Torbat-i-Heydari region of northeast Persia. The flat woven ends (skirts) on this rug is another typical feature of Baluch ethnic weavings. Wool is exceptionally lustrous, and dyes are top of the line on this Baluch rug. The weave is relatively coarse for this type, yet the design scale and irregularities on this rug make Lacey a special rug with lots of magic.
