Fawn

$1,300.00

Dimensions: 4' x 7'1"

This is a classic handmade rug from the village of Bijar in Northwest Persia, circa 1900. It was sourced from a private collection in Brentwood, Tennessee. With the Bijar rugs' nickname "iron rugs of Persia", this piece will easily last until the end of the century. Most desirable antique Bijar rugs such as Fawn are constructed with wool foundation, as opposed to cotton foundation. The field on this rug has the ancient Persian design known as the Herati pattern. Fawn is a true village piece showcasing lots of design improvisation and irregularities. Pile is medium with some wear commensurate to age and use. The ivory border contrasting the soft red field color is probably most unique on this type of Bijar weaving.
