Dimensions: 3'7" x 5'11"
Distressed antique Armenian Kazak area rug. This is a Fachralo village rug that still has its charm with gorgeous blue, red, and mustard accent colors. It is a nice example of a charming Kazak double-niche prayer rug from the Caucasus, circa 1920 at the latest. These rugs are primarily produced as village pieces rather than the fine and intricate city productions. The double niche format on this prayer rug and the stylized rosette motifs suggest that the rug was woven by Armenian Christians rather than Azeri or Turk Muslims in the area. Even though the rug is in somewhat distressed condition, it remains a truly mesmerizing work of art that stands as a testament to the unrepeatable artistry of a bygone era.
